Feeling invincible

In my happy place- skating free!

Unfettered and liberated

Moving fast to a song called “Animal”

Only to be reminded

(By a stone

On the path

That caught my wheel

Sent me careening

Arms flailing

Head pounding pavement):

I am a fragile being

Pain is pain is pain

No matter whose body is impacted

The universe registers that sensation

In the shared Earthly soup we all slurp.

The lesson?

Wear a helmet.

Also: never intentionally cause another to suffer. If it’s possible to avoid harm, choose that path.

Every moment of every day

Appreciate beauty, care for it

And remember who you are:

A soft animal

Made of flesh, blood, and bone

Just like all the others
